Hearing of Michael Jackson's passing left me in a state of shock. I cried for his family, I cried because he was cut down in the prime of his life but mostly because he was so misunderstood. This legendary man grew up in front of the cameras, giving many interviews that gave us a rare look into his life.
My heart always went out to MJ, as I read in magazines about his confessions of childhood abuse by the hands of his father, and how he was considered a "golden child" that would bring wealth and fame. Apparently, his father lived vicariously through his children which often pressured young MJ to deliver.
Public schools were foreign to young Michael, as he was home schooled his entire childhood in order to keep working. And listening to the story of his life it would seem that he lived in a lonely bubble, and hopefully now he has finally found eternal peace. It's easy to understand why he'd try to re-create his own childhood; trying to relive what he felt he missed out on.

The world is currently in turmoil with division, ignorance, and hatred but the one thing millions of people in this world seem to relate to is Michael Jackson. He brought people together with his messages of love and acceptance, and most of his songs were about how the world should love more. Obviously, the infamous entertainer knew the recipe to happiness although he couldn't seem to find it within himself.
Moreover, because the musical icon gave the world so much of himself, shouldn't it behoove us to try and work at fulfilling his dream of a more positive and loving universe?

As a way of understanding the man behind the music, below is the song "Childhood" which was written, composed, and produced by Michael Jackson.
Have you seen my Childhood? I'm searching for the world that I come from'
Cause I've been looking around in the lost and found of my heart...
No one understands me, they view it as such strange eccentricities...
'Cause I keep kidding around Like a child, but pardon me...
People say I'm not okay, 'cause I love such elementary things...
It's been my fate to compensate, for the Childhood I've never known...
Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth, like pirates in adventurous dreams, of conquest and kings on the throne...
Before you judge me, try hard to love me, look within your heart then ask, have you seen my Childhood?
People say I'm strange that way, 'cause I love such elementary things, it's been my fate to compensate, for the Childhood (Childhood) I've never known...
Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth, like fantastical stories to share, but the dreams I would dare, watch me fly...
Before you judge me, try hard to love me.
The painful youth I've had, have you seen my Childhood....
RIP Michael Jackson, I hope you've found the life you always dreamed of -- playing with God in heaven because he loves you just the way you are, and will let you be exactly who you are with him.
2009 LA
